Today, Sunday, the Syrian national football team coach, Nizar Mahrous, asked the Football Association in his country to work on addressing the Football Association, in the hope of adopting Amman Stadium, or King Abdullah II Stadium in Qweismeh, as a home stadium for the Syrian team in the qualifying round for the World Cup in Qatar.
This step comes in light of the Syrian national team not being allowed to play at home in the decisive role, due to the security situation in the country.
Mahrous said today, Sunday, that he asked the President of the Syrian Federation to address the Jordanian Federation in order to consider Amman Stadium as a home stadium for the Syrian team.
Mahrous added: “In Jordan, we feel that we are among our family and loved ones, and the Syrian player is used to the atmosphere, weather and Jordanian stadiums, which makes him feel as if he is playing in his country.”
And the coach of the Syrian national team indicated that he does not favor the adoption of a home stadium for the Syrian team in a different and distant country, and it does not serve the interests of the Syrian team, hoping that Amman Stadium will be approved as a home stadium for the Syrian team in the decisive round matches that start in early September.
