The Lebanese authorities announced that all of the country’s Electricity Corporation factories have been out of service since six in the morning on Friday, and all high-voltage networks are out of service.
The Litani River Authority said, in a statement, that all hydroelectric power plants affiliated with the authority became isolated from the public network, which led to a complete halt in production.
She added: “Because there are springs inside the Abdel Aal and Charles Helou factories, and the water flowing from them must be pumped out of the factory, the authority will operate these factories at low capacity, and for technical reasons, it will connect only 15 kV medium tension lines, and isolate its stations from the lines. High tension 66 kV.
The authority clarified that its coefficients are not noticeable to feed an isolated network, and therefore it cannot be stable on an isolated network from the EDL coefficients, which have a high capacity that ensures stability on the network; Therefore, it was decided to implement a rationing program on the medium tension lines directly connected to the Abdel Aal and Boulos Arqash factories, with a feeding rate for 3 hours, followed by a cut-off for another three hours throughout the day, pending the restart of the EDL factories.
According to Lebanese media, the owners of electricity subscription generators in the city of Tire decided to start the process of rationing five hours a day, in two stages within 24 hours, after the stations ran out of diesel fuel and were unable to buy the substance on the black market, according to the National News Agency.
Lebanon is suffering in the recent period from a severe economic crisis, as the national currency collapsed, which led to the rise in the prices of goods and foodstuffs and the loss of some of them, in addition to the interruption of gasoline and many medicines and medical equipment.
