The Director General of the Civil Consumer Corporation, Salman Al-Qudah, confirmed that the selling prices of goods will remain fixed until the end of the current year 2021, while the selling prices of some goods will be reduced on new contracts and agreements.

In a statement to Jordan News Agency (Petra), Al-Qudah said that the Corporation has a convenient strategic stockpile in its warehouses of various contracted commodities, especially basic and strategic foodstuffs.

He added, that the Corporation has worked to enhance its strategic stock of all basic commodities, as the Corporation, along with its supplier partners, used to store contracted commodities in the Corporation’s warehouses, in order to meet any shortage of these materials or in the event of raising prices, whether from the country of origin or shipment.

The judges pointed out that the Corporation has a comfortable strategic stock of basic food commodities (rice, vegetable oils, sugar and powdered milk) sufficient until the end of the year, and the quantities of commodities in the Corporation’s markets have been enhanced as a precaution against the expected turnout by citizens, especially that the Corporation’s market commodities are of high quality High and prices lower than those in the local market.

It is noteworthy that the Corporation has major warehouses in the Kho area of ​​Zarqa city with an estimated area of ​​about 172 dunums, in addition to the presence of more than 40 trucks that supply goods to the markets.

The Cabinet recently discussed the legal procedures that enable the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply to import basic commodities and intervene in the market when needed with the aim of limiting price increases.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali indicated during the meeting that the Industry, Trade and Supply Law No. (18) of 1998 and the Commercial Account Management System No. (67) of 2000 authorize the ministry, through the Central Tenders Committee, to submit bids to purchase basic materials, through tenders or Direct purchase by contracting with supplier companies (governmental or private) according to Article (9) of the Commercial Account Management System.

The engineer had previously directed the Corporation to provide basic materials at reasonable prices, and to increase its stock of basic materials by withdrawing the quantities contracted under contracts and agreements with local companies, and storing them in its warehouses instead of the merchants’ stores; As a precaution against the reluctance of some traders to supply some quantities in the event that prices rise significantly compared to contract prices, in addition to making arrangements with suppliers who have contracts with the Corporation, so that these companies import directly for the Corporation’s purposes in order to reduce import costs.
