Reuters reported that cyber hackers have penetrated Iran’s railway network, causing confusion and disruption of services.
According to what was reported by “Bloomberg” on the official Iranian TV, this cyber attack led to what was described as “unprecedented chaos.”
The source stated that the cyber attack led to the cancellation and delay of hundreds of railways in Iran.
Train stations in Iran promptly displayed notices of delays and cancellations on screens, and wrote that the order was caused by a cyber attack.
Iranian television stated that the attack affected the computers of the railway system in Iran, as well as the entrances to stations and ticket booths.
At 07:50 Tehran time, the website of the country’s railway company was not showing the page.
In July 2020, Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that Iran faces hundreds of cyber attacks targeting its infrastructure on a daily basis.
Mousavi said, at the time, that the United States was the first suspect, but Tehran did not blame Washington, recently, when it was exposed to cyber incidents.
