The National Center for Human Rights called for the need to review the legislation and instructions regulating dealing with money and property belonging to individuals in the event of confiscation, in order to ensure that they are returned to them after the violation has ceased in a manner that ensures the protection of their rights.

This came after the Center followed up on what was reported by some social media platforms about the Greater Amman Municipality smashing the vehicle of a street vendor in a manner that violates national law, human values and human rights principles based on justice, equality, tolerance and the application of the law without compromising human dignity.

The center clarified, in a statement, that the aforementioned incident contradicts the international covenants that Jordan is committed to and seeks to implement, especially the recurrence of such cases in dealing with the property of individuals in case they violate the law, stressing the rejection of these practices and the need to hold accountable those involved in such acts.
