Today, Friday, a forty-year-old man committed suicide by hanging at his home in Zarqa Governorate, according to a security source to the online newspaper, Jordan News.

The source added that a report was received that a person in his forties committed suicide, as a move was made to the place, and it was found that he had hanged himself by a rope attached to the ceiling fan of the house.

And deaths resulting from suicides during the year 2020 in Jordan recorded a remarkable increase, reaching 152 cases, an increase of 33 cases from 2019, when the number of suicides reached 119.

According to official statistics, last year recorded the highest suicide rates in Jordan in five years, while sociologists and psychologists attribute the high rates of suicide to economic, social and psychological factors related to the Corona pandemic.
