King Abdullah II begins his official visit to Washington, DC, with a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House on July 19.
The King is accompanied on the visit by Queen Rania Al Abdullah and Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince.
The King’s meeting with the US president, the first for an Arab leader with President Biden since his election, deals with the strategic relations between Jordan and the United States, and ways to strengthen them in various fields, in addition to the latest developments in the region.
The visit will also witness meetings of the king with the staff of the US administration, leaders of Congress, the committees of military services, foreign relations, and appropriations in the Senate, in addition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Appropriations of the State Department, foreign operations and related programs in the House of Representatives, and American research centers.
The royal working visit comes after a number of Jordanian diplomatic meetings and activities led by the king. The king had met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and participated in the fourth Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi tripartite summit in Baghdad, prior to leaving for the United States.
