Implementation of the tax billing system next year

The media spokesman for the Income and Sales Tax Department, Musa Al-Tarawneh, suggested that the Tax Department would start implementing the tax billing system next year.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has launched the tender for the development, operation and maintenance of the national billing system, noting that this system will work to stop tax waste, reduce evasion and contribute to maximizing tax revenues, according to Al-Rai daily.

He said that the department has created a special directorate for the billing system for the purposes of follow-up and organizing the work of the system when it is applied after completing the procedures for this purpose, and within the framework of the digital transformation process for the Income and Sales Tax Department and after the legislative and regulatory structure became ready to implement the system of regulating and controlling billing affairs.

He indicated that the billing project includes providing the Income and Sales Tax Department with integrated solutions for an electronic system in the field of invoicing to provide services for issuing and managing bills, in addition to collecting and managing data and information related to sales and purchases.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that the billing system will not include every establishment whose sales are less than 75,000 dinars per year, and craftsmen whose revenues are less than 30,000 dinars per year.

It is noteworthy that local revenues recorded an increase during the first third of this year and amounted to about 423.1 million dinars compared to the same period last year, and an increase in non-tax revenues by 229.1 million dinars compared with the same period last year.

The increase in tax revenues came as a result of the increase in the proceeds of the general tax on goods and services during the first third of this year, amounting to 284.7 million dinars, or 29.7%, compared to the same period of 2020, in addition to an increase in taxes on income and profits, by an amount of 105.2 million dinars, or 20.8% compared to With the same period, the proceeds of taxes collected on financial transactions (property sale tax) increased by about 8.5 million dinars, or 90.3% compared to the same period last year, and the tax on international trade and transactions increased by 24.8 million dinars during the first four months of the current year, or A rate of 32.9%.
