A Canadian newspaper revealed, on Tuesday, that a Pakistani Muslim was attacked with a knife a few days ago, by a group that says they “hate Muslims” in the city of Saskatoon.

The Starphoenix newspaper reported that the Pakistani, Muhammad Kashif, was attacked with a knife, on June 25, in an area near his house.

She added that Kashif, who was wearing traditional Pakistani dress, sustained injuries to his back and arm, and the assailants cut his beard.

The newspaper quoted Kashif, as saying that the assailant group addressed him with expressions of hatred for Muslims, in addition to asking him questions such as “Why are you here? Go back to your country.”

In turn, Saskatoon Mayor Charles Clarke described the incident as “surprising and sad”, adding that they had launched an investigation.

For 15 years, Kashif has been living in Saskatoon, with his family consisting of his wife and three children.
