Not 3 days after the birth of an Algerian baby, he was snatched from his mother’s lap, who carried him in her womb for 9 months and placed him in a Canadian hospital.
The story began months before birth, as Miloud Jbara, of Algerian origin, and his Syrian-born wife, visited a hospital in the French-speaking city of Montreal in the Canadian province of Quebec.
Miloud was accompanying his wife because she did not speak French, but only English, and he was translating what the doctor who supervised her pregnancy said, but this doctor began to anger the spouses, when she began to ask questions outside the scope of her work, interfering in the privacy of the relationship between the spouses.
He suggested that the motive behind the doctor’s questions was her belief that the Muslim husband persecutes his wife, especially that she is veiled.
She was not satisfied with that, but she repeatedly expressed her dissatisfaction with the husband, Miloud, translating what she says in French into the English language that his wife understands.
So did the nurses in the hospital.
In the face of this uncomfortable situation, the couple changed the doctor to another that was comfortable for them, and she was professional, they said, and did not interfere in what does not help her.
But the first doctor did not accept what happened, and it seemed that the first harassment was nothing of what would happen later, as she found the first doctor on a scheduled examination appointment with the second doctor, and promised that the authorities would extract the child.
As soon as his wife gave birth, a nurse kidnapped the baby with the complicity of hospital guards, the family says.
Miloud continued, “I did not take it seriously, and I imagined that she had told my wife these words in order to intimidate and take revenge.”
The next day, the mother gave birth in the hospital, and soon after that the nurse called the responsible doctor on the pretext that the mother did not want to breastfeed her son, but the doctor asked to leave the couple alone.
In the end, the child was snatched from his parents’ lap, after the nurse accused the parents of incompetence in caring for the young child and the mother threatened to kill him, which the family described as “fabricated.”
The father of the child, Miloud Jbara, filed a case against the hospital before the Canadian judiciary.
