His Majesty King Abdullah II called on the industrial sector to benefit from free trade agreements, stressing the importance of increasing the sector’s competitiveness and stimulating exports.

His Majesty, during his meeting today, Monday, with representatives of the industrial sector at Al Husseiniya Palace, pointed out that Jordanian industries were able to achieve success stories despite the challenges, pointing to the sector’s role during the “Corona” pandemic in meeting citizens’ demand for basic commodities without interruption.

During the meeting, which comes as part of a series of meetings that will continue to include representatives from other sectors, His Majesty stressed the importance of moving forward in cooperation between the government and the private sector in preparing an action program to develop the economy, focusing on raising the competitiveness of the industrial sector and addressing the challenges it faces, such as energy and water costs. facilitating government procedures.

His Majesty stressed the importance of administrative reform in this regard, saying, “There can be no success in economic reform without administrative reform,” stressing the importance of the rule of law to encourage investment.

His Majesty the King addressed the results of his recent visit to Iraq, which he affirmed was successful, especially in the field of opening the Iraqi market for Jordanian exports, pointing out that there is a great opportunity for Jordan, Egypt and Iraq to benefit from the free trade agreements that link them with a number of countries in the region and the world.

Representatives of the industrial sector talked about the most prominent challenges it faces in the field of tax, customs and government procedures, in addition to their ideas for developing the sector and enhancing cooperation and partnership between the private and public sectors.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, Director of His Majesty’s Office, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, and Minister of Finance.
