Many ask about the optimal time to drink coffee, as well as the appropriate amount, in light of conflicting reports published by non-specialized sites on the Internet.
And during an intervention with the Egyptian channel, “Extra News”, today, Friday, Dr. Mohamed Sami, a nutrition consultant, revealed that the optimal time in terms of health for coffee starts from the morning (after breakfast) until six in the evening.
He advised drinking at most one or two cups per day, or the equivalent of 400 mg, adding that there is a need to drink coffee in the morning or before evening, as it is a stimulant and increases brain activity and may cause problems, especially during sleep during the night.
Sami warned against drinking coffee “on an empty stomach”, that is, before breakfast and immediately after waking up, explaining that this would cause an increase in digestive problems such as ulcers and reflux, since caffeine in this case causes infections in the stomach wall.
He said coffee can be had at least 20 minutes after breakfast.
