Today, Monday, Minister of Social Development Ayman Al-Mufleh confirmed that the ministry continues to combat the phenomenon of beggary, and that there are no beggars in need.
He stressed that everyone who needs assistance should contact either the Ministry of Social Development or the National Aid Fund.
He pointed out that the means of beggary have changed and transformed according to the nature of the region, indicating that the law does not deter these people, especially since there is now a so-called organized beggary.
Mufleh added, “There is a committee in the Ministry of Social Development that is working to come up with votes that would curb this phenomenon.”
He pointed out that one of the beggars who sparked controversy on social media during the past few days was found in possession of 1,884 dinars.
And he concluded: “In another case, a public sector employee working as a driver was caught begging, and he was immediately transferred to the concerned authorities.”
