An 11-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy – and is now believed to be Britain’s youngest-ever mother. She became pregnant at the age of 10 before giving birth earlier this month, according to the British newspaper, The Sun. She is 12 years old when she gave birth in 2006.
The mother and baby, who were born after more than 30 weeks, are in good health, and social services workers in Britain confirmed that the girl’s parents did not know that she was pregnant, and that the girl and her newborn were now healthy.

A source close to the family said: “It was a huge shock. She is now surrounded by the help of experts. The main thing is that she and the baby are fine. There are questions about why people don’t know. This is very worrying.”
Carol Cooper, MD, MD, said: ‘This is the youngest mum I’ve heard of. The average age for a girl to start puberty is 11, although it can be anytime between 8 and 14 or younger. Many hormones, because children are currently heavier, puberty is happening earlier these days,” she said, adding, “One in every 2,500 births occurs to someone who does not know she is pregnant (or has hidden it).”
In 2014, a baby was born to a 12-year-old mother and a 13-year-old father – the lowest age between British parents, and in 2017, an 11-year-old girl was reported to be giving birth but no further details have emerged.
