The Council of Ministers approved, in its session held today, Sunday, the draft law for the development of lands adjacent to the Baptism Site for the year 2021.
The adoption of the draft law comes in view of the status of the Baptism site, and its historical importance, as a world heritage.
The draft law aims to develop the lands adjacent to the Baptism site in a way that enhances its importance to be among the most important and largest global religious and historical tourist destinations, and in a manner that contributes to the supply of religious tourism in the Kingdom, support and empowerment of local communities, supplement their capabilities, and provide job opportunities for their children.
Under the bill, a non-profit charitable foundation will be established to develop the lands adjacent to the baptism site.
The Council of Ministers also approved the reasons for a draft law amending the Fatwa Law for the year 2021 AD, and the reasons for the draft system to cancel the training system for meteorological monitoring and forecasts for the year 2021 AD, and referred them to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to follow the fundamental procedures for approval.
