Address to block messaging applications in the areas where the “Tawjihi” exams are held

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said, on Sunday, that it has addressed mobile telecommunications companies to block messaging applications that affect the conduct of the “Tawjihi” high school exam in the Kingdom’s schools in which the exams will be held and only during the period in which they are being held.
The authority added that blocking applications to preserve the integrity of the “Tawjihi” exam; Which is considered a supreme national interest and the basis of the educational and academic process, and the need for the results to reflect the capabilities of students through achieving justice and transparency, and as a precautionary step to prevent cheating or leaking exam questions.
And she indicated that “the blocking of applications will start on June 24, 2021, until July 15, 2021.”
The commission pointed out that “the blocking will take place minutes before the start of the exams and end shortly after.”
“As a result of the nature of telecommunication networks coverage, some blocking areas may appear outside the school district, but they are temporary in nature and are done to achieve their purpose,” according to the authority.
The authority confirmed, “The decision to block applications is in coordination with the Ministry of Education.”
