Minister of Health Dr. Firas Al-Hawari said that Jordan will record 2500-3000 infections per day in the expected worst scenario, after the spread of the mutated virus and the opening measures taken by the state.
According to a television statement, Al-Hawari said that the numbers are subject to change, and they are studies that anticipate scenarios and do not necessarily describe exactly what will happen.
He added that the situation is good in terms of epidemiological curves, whether injuries or hospital occupancy, and the numbers are acceptable and we expect them to improve after the increase in the demand for vaccinations.
He pointed out that an increase in injuries witnessed in the region and the world after the mitigation measures taken by countries, noting that oversight is important, but the awareness of individuals is more important.
Al-Hawari said we are strictly monitoring the situation to ensure that a new wave is not entered, stressing that the expectation is that there will be an increase, but it is not like the second wave.
He added that the ministry recorded 55 mutated cases, whether African, Brazilian or Indian, pointing out that the mutant will be prevalent in Jordan, like other countries that witnessed the spread of the virus.
