The Hebrew newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, reported on Tuesday that the occupation police changed the itinerary of the flags march today at the last minute, fearing an escalation of matters with the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper stated that the march was supposed to pass through the market in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood, but the police changed its route with the influx of participants and only allowed groups of 50 people to pass from there under heavy guard, as it was feared that the march would clash with Palestinian shop owners.

At the same time, “Israel” transmitted messages to Egypt that it changed the course of the march in order to refrain from escalating matters, and Egypt was informed that “Israel” expects it to rein in Hamas, or else the situation will deteriorate. Similar messages were also sent to the Palestinians and the occupation police sent messages of calm to the authorities. Palestinians inside.

About 5,000 people participated in the march, guarded by more than 2,000 policemen. After eight o’clock, the police announced the end of the march and the reopening of closed streets in Jerusalem.

The Flags March is an annual march organized by settlers in Jerusalem since 1968 until today.

The march toured the vicinity of the Old City and several alleys from the Old City, including al-Silsila Street, all the way to the Al-Buraq Wall, after the occupation and its settlers were forced to change its course due to the threats of the Palestinian resistance factions.

Today’s march comes after the failure of the precedent that was conducted on May 10, under the impact of warning sirens, which were launched by the resistance factions’ rockets in Gaza towards the occupied city of Jerusalem at the time.
