Twenty-seven Palestinians were injured by live and rubber-coated metal bullets, as they were severely beaten, with sticks and rifle butts, on Tuesday, by the Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of the Old City, in occupied Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Jerusalem said that its crews dealt with 27 injuries during the confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in Bab al-Amud and the vicinity of the Old City, 4 of whom were transferred to the hospital.
She added, that bullets were fired directly at an ambulance, and the movement of medical staff was restricted and a person wounded with live bullets was arrested after paramedics prevented him from being transferred to the hospital.
Director of Al-Amal Association for Health Services, Abdul Majeed Taha, said that its crews dealt with 30 Palestinians who were wounded and bruised as a result of the Israeli occupation soldiers assaulting them with hands and batons while they were in the vicinity of the Old City, and forced them to evacuate the area by force.
“The occupation forces continued to oppress the Palestinians in Jerusalem prior to the “Flags March,” and attacked young men and press crews in the vicinity of Bab al-Amud with hands and batons, and used a vehicle to spray sewage water to disperse them and drive them away from the place. They also fired rubber bullets at them and arrested at least 7 young men.
The Israeli occupation forces had closed all entrances to Bab al-Amud, one of the gates of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources said that the perimeter of Bab al-Amud is completely closed, amid large military and police reinforcements in the area in particular and in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem in general.
