The specialist in Jerusalem affairs, Khaled Zabarka, said that the provocative “flags march” in the occupied city of Jerusalem failed miserably in passing the message to the Israeli society aimed at imposing legitimacy and Jewish identity on the city, specifically Bab al-Amud and the Old City.
Zabarka explained in an exclusive statement to “Safa” agency on Wednesday, that the march with this Israeli media machine, which was accompanied by a large policeman’s security, and the weakness and emaciation that appeared in it, in return for the Jerusalemites confronting them and raising the Palestinian flag in the faces of the settlers, gave the true image of the city of Jerusalem and embodied the meaning of it. occupation in it.
He added that the provocative march and the changes that occurred in its course, proved that the occupation is not the decision-maker, and that it has lost any legitimacy or sovereignty in the Holy City, and that sovereignty belongs to the Palestinians and Muslims alone, and that its identity is purely Arab and Islamic.
He stressed that no Israeli military force, no matter how high, can impose its legitimacy on Jerusalem, and that any attempt to change reality and impose will and control will not succeed.
He pointed out that the Jewish terrorist groups that participated in the “Flags March” are one of the arms of the occupation that it uses and gives them all support in order to change the identity of Jerusalem and create chaos and tension in the city, thinking that he can arrange things as he wants.
He pointed out that the occupation, with its military and police forces, tried to change the identity of Bab al-Amud, expelled Jerusalemites from it, prevented their presence in the area, and set up iron barriers, but officially failed to achieve this.
And he indicated that the occupation also failed to bring about any change in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and crowned all its practices and plans in Jerusalem, as a result of the Jerusalem Street’s response to these practices.
He considered that yesterday’s “march of flags” was “weak and meager, which indicates that the era of successive defeats of the occupation began in Jerusalem, Bab al-Amud and Sheikh Jarrah.”
Zabarka said: “The occupation thought that by signing normalization and shame agreements with Arab countries consistent with its narrative and plans, and by recruiting a group outside the Palestinian people, whether in the West Bank or the occupied interior, things had become ready to implement its biggest project, which is the Judaization of all of Jerusalem.”
He added, “But the steadfastness of the Palestinian youth and Jerusalemites and their resistance to his racist plans and measures have thwarted all his efforts aimed at changing the public space in the city, all the way to the Old City and Bab al-Amud.”
He stressed that the occupation authorities want to resolve the issue of the Old City and access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as they use all their capabilities, influence, military power and courts in order to achieve the goal of Judaizing Jerusalem and spreading Jewish symbols in it.
He explained that the occupation seeks to perpetuate the concept of a “Jewish state” in Jerusalem, through several elements, first: ensuring a strong Jewish majority in front of a weak Arab minority, second: ensuring the Judaization of the public space in the city, and the obliteration of Arab Islamic symbols and monuments to be replaced by Talmudic symbols, with the aim of proving Jerusalem is a Jewish city.
And the third element – according to Zabarqa – “consecrates the concept of Jewish supremacy in front of Arab inferiority, because the occupation believes that the Jewish human element in Jerusalem is the most important in resolving the conflict.”
He pointed out that “the Jerusalemites, with their courageous stances, were able to reveal the ugly face of the occupation and the Arab regimes that are consistent and consistent with the Zionist project.”
He stressed that the right of the Palestinians to Jerusalem is an unalienable right, even if Israel used all its military, security and intelligence arsenals.
He considered that what the occupation is doing in the city is outlaw and constitutes a crime against humanity, calling at the same time, the Arabs and the free world to take urgent action to stop this crime and protect the holy sites.
The “Flags March” was organized on Tuesday evening in Jerusalem, with the participation of about 5,000 settlers, under the guard of more than 2,000 policemen.
Coinciding with the arrival of the march, the occupation forces assaulted Jerusalemites in the Bab al-Amoud area with beatings, rubber bullets and sound bombs, and prevented them from entering and leaving the Old City.
The march toured the vicinity of the Old City and several alleys from the Old City, including al-Silsila Street to the Al-Buraq Wall, after the occupation and its settlers had to change its course in the face of threats by the resistance factions.
And the Hebrew newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, said that the occupation police changed the itinerary of the “Flags March” at the last minute, fearing an escalation of matters with the Gaza Strip.
She stated that the march was supposed to pass through the market in the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood, but the police changed its route with the influx of participants and only allowed groups of 50 people to pass from there under heavy guard, as it was feared that the march would come into contact with Palestinian shop owners.
