The Pakistani city of Karachi witnessed the launching ceremony of the “Milgam” cruiser, which is manufactured by Turkey for the Pakistani Navy.

This came in an official ceremony held at a shipyard in Karachi, in which the Commander of the Pakistani Navy, Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, and Asaad Akgun, General Manager of the Turkish “Asfat” company that manufactures the said ship, participated.

The “Milgam” cruiser, whose manufacturing work began in Karachi, is the fourth of its kind manufactured by the Turkish “Asfat” for the Pakistani Navy.

In his speech, during the ceremony, “Akgun” said that such projects strengthen the brotherly ties between the peoples of Turkey and Pakistan.

In recent years, Pakistan has been strengthening its naval fleet, against the backdrop of tensions in its relations with its neighbor India.

In this context, Ankara and Islamabad signed a deal to produce four Turkish “Asfat” corvettes for the Pakistani Navy, with two of them to be manufactured in Turkey, and two of them in Pakistan.

Turkey is scheduled to deliver the first cruiser to the Pakistani Navy in 2023.
